Garden

On Sunday, in addition to building a bookshelf or three, I also planted some seedlings in the hopes of bountiful crops of produce come summer. I planted cucumber, capsicum, spring onions and also sowed some seeds that I'll post up when they sprout...

Happy looking plants :-)

Redoing the living room, outfit of the day

I've had a busy weekend - we moved into this house about 3 weeks ago, and have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of our new couch. Upto this point, all we had was a brown sofa bed that was comfy, but was reaching the end of its lifespan. It also was quite ugly and didn't really match us or the new house.

The couch arrived yesterday - along with it was the occasional chair and ottoman we ordered, but altogether, the couch+chair was a bit too much for the narrow space we were working with. After some thought, we decided to leave it as it was, and tackle the garden for a bit (more on this later on ). After a bit of digging, Boyfriend very mysteriously disapeared, coming back an hour later with...
A noguchi coffee table. Eek I thought. MORE furniture?? where was it all to go? Little did I know, but Boyfriend had a plan. He made me a coffee and started moving things. After a while I saw where he was going, and it was brilliant!

This is what our living room is shaped like and my artistic impression of what it used to be.

Here is our living room now.

This is a little reading nook that we made in the corner that is next to the screen

After we did all this on saturday, we still felt like something was missing, and the wall that had the door leading to the kitchen was awfully bare. So this morning, we woke up bright and early and drove down to Ikea to grab some Billy bookshelves. After much cursing, we managed to fit them into the car, and after an hours worth of assembling and arranging this is what we had:

There is still much to do in terms of getting little accessories and rearranging the books (those were stuffed in straight out of boxes from when we moved) but at least the bones are there and we can work from what we've got. So there you have it: my living room.

Here is what I wore yesterday for when I went out:

racerback singlet -target
indigo jeans - cotton on
nude wedges - sketchers/USA

Outfit of the day +my wall garden

Dressed uber casually today, partly because of the gorgeous melbourne weather, partly because I will be spending most of today inside a dark room :'(

Wearing

Purple havs/taupe ballet flats inside lab
indigo skinny jeans (cotton on)
washed cotton lilac t shirt, loose fitting and messily tucked into front of jeans
silver plaited belt
layered silver Eiffel tower necklace and diamond pendant
silver link ring and white enamel ring on index fingers

In other news my wall garden is looking good! I planted strawberry plants (2 varieties), 3 different types of tumbling cherry tomatoes, and sowed seeds for basil, parsley and nasturtiums. All three have now sprouted (see below)

Outfit of the day, wednesdayitis!

Off to the lab today, really don't want to go sit in a dark room all day, the weather is calling me! Would rather stay at home, sit outside in the sun with a drink while working on my thesis, but I have a supervisor meeting today. bleh.

Wearing
Batik print silky blouse (acquired from mum)
messily tucked into camel silk pegleg pants (witchery)
vintage tan leather belt holding pants up
black long thin cardi (cotton on)
black almond toe mid height heels with rosette on toe

Close up of batik:

I love this top, mum says she used to wear it back in the 70s, and the colour has not faded one bit. Mum used to be an absolute fashionista, but she lost a lot of her clothes etc when my grandparents house burnt down, else I would have had more to 'acquire' from her wardrobe.

Op shop finds +outfit

Wanted to wear the alexander wang sweater I scored from vinnies yesterday, so wore

Sportsgirl black harem pants
eggplant v neck singlet, deep back
marle grey Alexander wang sweater with silver studs, batwing sleeves on top
nude strappy wedges, silver zip on top when I went out
hair up in high ponytail when I went out

Absolutely love this sweater, so snuggly, and best of all was marked $5 at the op shop. The little old lady who sold it to me looked a bit cross when I said it was designer, perhaps it would have been marked up more if she knew? Close up of sweater

Also scored this juicy tangerine skirt and silk scarf from the same opshop. I envision the skirt with this silky salmon loose fitting shirt I have. Don't quite know what to do with the scarf but I love the colours and pattern!
